“Zenit” defeated “Baltika” and won the Russian Football Cup

St. Petersburg “Zenit” defeated Kaliningrad “Baltika” with a score of 2:1 in the Russian Football Cup Superfinal. The game was held at the “Luzhniki” stadium in Moscow.

The decisive goals were scored in the last minutes of the meeting: Nino in the 81st and Nuraly Alip in the 90+5. The Kaliningraders' only goal was scored by Alex Fernandez in the 40th minute.

The victory in this tournament was “Zenit's” fifth in the club's history, not counting the USSR Cup won in 1944. It is worth noting that this season the Russian Cup was held according to a scheme dividing the participants into two brackets: the RPL Path and the Regions Path.

It is interesting that for the first time in its history, “Zenit” won three titles in one season: in addition to the Russian Cup, the team became the national champion for the sixth time in a row and won the Russian Super Cup over CSKA at the beginning of the season.

The next test for “Zenit” will be the Super Cup match, where their opponent will be “Krasnodar”.
