The 21th Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad (JBMO) held in Varna, Bulgaria brought together more than 100 young mathematicians from 17 countries, including Albania, Greece, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, France, Cyprus, Moldova, Azerbaijan among others.
The team of the State Boarding School for Gifted Children represented Turkmenistan in the competitions.Four pupils from Turkmenistan, the winners of national intellectual contests made a debut at the international Olympiad.
Two of them were among the winners.Eighth-grade students Mengli Rahmedova won a silver medal, and Rovshen Ovezmuradov a bronze one.Ninth-grader Baigeldy Cholukov was one pace away from the victory.
School math teachers Arslan Hodjiyev and Dovran Annaniyazov prepared the children for the intellectual contest.
Relevant medals, certificates and diplomas as well as valuable prizes were awarded to the winners.
Within the framework of the rich cultural programme, the schoolchildren visited the sights, museums and a botanical garden in Varna.
The students of the State Boarding School for Gifted Children become the winners of the international intellectual contests more often. Starting from the seventh grade, teachers in the school prepare students for the international contests in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
