WTO Delegation to Visit Turkmenistan

Delegation of the World Trade Organization (WTO) will visit Turkmenistan’s capital Ashgabat on May 29-31 this year, the News Central Asia Agency reported on Friday.

The upcoming visit was discussed on Friday by Ambassador Atageldi Haljanov, Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations Officie at Geneva, and Maika Oshikawa, Director of the Accession Department of the WTO.

During the meeting, they talked over the WTO accession process and the preparation of the Memorandum on Foreign Trade Regime of Turkmenistan.

The WTO General Council established a Working Group to oversee negotiations between members of the organization and Turkmenistan on the terms of its accession.

Turkmenistan was granted the observer status in the WTO on July 22, 2020.
