Karate is one of the most popular sports in Turkmenistan. Its national federation was officially registered in the country in 1994, and Hangeldi Hodjaev was appointed its chairman.
Honored Coach of the country Hangeldi Hodjaev is the holder of the 5th dan in traditional karate.Under his chairmanship, the Karate Federation of Turkmenistan managed to win a total of 73 medals (7 gold, 19 silver and 47 bronze).
During his sports career, he took part in many international tournaments.He is also the author of over 30 scientific articles and about 10 books on etymology, physiology, biomechanics and traditional karate technology.
He also cultivated a love for this sport in his son Diyar Hodjaev, who had been exercising karate since five years of age. His father has been and remains his permanent coach and mentor. He confidently defeated his competitor and won the gold medal at the World Championship in the United States in 2006.
In 2008 and 2010 in India, Diyar Hodjaev became the champion of Asia.He won and set a new world record at the Fudokan Karate World Championship in Serbia in 2015.
In the same year in Tolyatti, he defeated his competitor of Russia at the 7th second in one of his fights during the Open Cup of Russia in this martial art: another world record in the category “Fastest Victory” in fudokan-karate competitions.
He won 3 medals in that tournament (2 gold and 1 silver).
Diyar has participated in over 100 national and world competitions and has received about 200 awards. His goal in his sports career is to participate in the 2022 Olympic Games and win a cherished Olympic medal.
