According to the Internet edition “Meteojournal”, from 6 to 7 November, the territory of Turkmenistan will be under the influence of southern winds. A vast cyclone, approaching from the White Sea, forms a huge circulation of air masses that will bring warm air from Iran and Afghanistan.
The air temperature in the south-west and south of Turkmenistan will rise to +23 +31 degrees Celsius. But you won’t have to enjoy the hot days of the November sun for a long time, since the Atlantic anticyclone, with a cool air mass, has already rushed to the countries of Central Asia.
On the territory of Turkmenistan, it will become noticeably colder since November 8, the above-zero temperature will drop from 30 degrees to 12-17. Significant rainfall is expected in the Balkan region. In the southeast of Turkmenistan, the weather situation will be somewhat different, here the temperature will remain up to +23 degrees without significant precipitation.
From the history of meteorological observations in Ashgabat, the earliest frost was recorded in October 1980.However, as of today, October frosts in the Turkmen capital are rare, the last one was recorded on October 19, 1995, when the temperature dropped to -2.3 degrees.
Since then, more than 20 years later, moderately cool weather has been observed in Ashgabat in mid-autumn.
The same cannot be said about the east of Turkmenistan, where the first snow fell in the Koytendag mountains in mid-October this year. The highest point of the Koytendag ridge Ayrybaba, whose height is 3139 meters above sea level, was dressed in a snow cap.
World Forecast Centers provide different weather forecasts for November for the Central Asian region. Thus, the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia predicts the possibility of precipitation for Turkmenistan from normal to above average, while the temperature indicators will be close to normal.
The temperature forecast is in line with the findings of the United States National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). But the world leader in long-term forecasting predicts a dry November with below normal rainfall. The same climatic forecast is given by specialists at Columbia University IRI, speaking about low precipitation in the last month of autumn.
Anyway, according to the forecasts of Turkmenhydromet, light rains are expected in Ashgabat this weekend.
