Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that bank offices which are located in Dashoguz and provide the services of Western Union money transfer have been assigned for each etrap of Dashoguz velayat.
New rules and regulations are expected to streamline operations and reduce queues which are formed in front of the banks.
Residents of Gurbansoltan-edje etrap (formerly, Ilyaly) are now served by “Senegat” banks; the ihabitants of Akdepe etrap (formerly, Lenin etrap) and Boldumsaz etrap (formerly, Kalinin etrap) are served by “Senegat” bank office located in the building of the former Karakum bank; residents of the etrap named after Niyazov (Tashauz) are served by “Turkmenbashi” bank whereas the inhabitants of Dashoguz are served by the Turkmen-Turkish bank.
The velayat inhabitants have not noticed any changes so far. On the contrary, according to respondents who were interviewed by the correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” confirm that new rules have only been more confusing.
The working schedules of bank offices are not consistent. For instance, “Senegat” bank issues tickets for the transfer of $150 (525 manats at the official rate) once in two months, whereas a ticket in “Turkmenashi” allows customers to transfer $100 a month.
The residents of Dashoguz velayat are extremely outraged by the fact that, according to them, in other provinces and the capital people are allowed to make a monthly money transfer of $300 to their children.
An additional ticket can be purchased from speculators but the fee might reach 1000 manats.
It should be emphasized that only parents of students who are doing a course of studies overseas are allowed to make money transfers. For this all documents, including a kinship certificate and a certificate of enrolment from a university are required to be presented.
