Weightlifter Polina Guryeva won the first Olympic medal in the history of Turkmenistan

Weightlifter Polina Guryeva became the first representative in the history of Turkmenistan to win a medal at the Olympic Games.

Turkmen weightlifter Polina Guryeva won a silver medal in the up to 59 kg weight category at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

The athlete showed the result of 217 kg (121 in the clean and jerk and 96 in the snatch).

The gold medal was won by Kuo Hsing-Chun from Taiwan with a score of 236 kg (103 + 133). The third was the representative of Japan Mikiko Ando with the result of 214 kg (94 + 120).

Representatives of Turkmenistan have been participating in the Olympics since 1996.
