On February 12, 2020, a representative delegation of the RussianFederation headed by the Governor of Saint-Petersburg A.D.Beglov hasarrived to Ashgabat.In the first half of the day on February 13, the guest was received bythe President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
During themeeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues of political, economicand cultural-humanitarian scope.It was noted that the collaboration ofTurkmenistan with the regions of the Russian Federation holds a vital placein bilateral cooperation.Then, the meeting of A.D.Beglov with the Deputy Chairman of theCabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of TurkmenistanR.Meredov was held.
The parties noted that the mutual visits of the Leadersof two states serve as an important link in the development of Turkmen-Russian relations.The positive cooperation experience in the framework ofinternational and regional organizations was voiced.
In this context, theinitiatives of the Government of Turkmenistan aimed at the maintenance ofpeace, stability and economic growth in the region, as well as beyond it werespecifically underlined.The parties spoke about the high level of trade-economic ties, includingthe constructive participation of the Russian companies in the number ofprojects on the territory of Turkmenistan.
The present and prospectiveprojects in the oil and gas, as well as in the transport spheres wereconsidered.Also, the cooperation in the area of education, science, culture, art andsport was discussed.
The subject of establishing cooperation between theinstitutes of higher education of Turkmenistan and Russia through theformation of pertinent normative base with the aim of exchanging expertisein various spheres, particularly in the area of high technologies wasdiscussed.Speaking about the rich culture of the two countries, the partiesunderlined the success of cultural events organized in Turkmenistan andSaint-Petersburg and expressed hope for further cooperation in this course.In the end of the meeting, the parties reiterated the adherence of twocountries to further strengthening of bilateral ties and signed a Protocol onthe outcomes of the talks between the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet ofMinisters, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R.Meredov andGovernor of Saint-Petersburg A.D.Beglov.
