US Ambassador to Turkmenistan M. Klimow held a press conference

Today in Ashgabat, at his residence, US Ambassador to Turkmenistan Matthew Klimow held a press conference on the occasion of the completion of his diplomatic mission in the country, a “Turkmenportal” correspondent reports.

The event was attended by representatives of local and international media, bloggers, and representatives of civil society.

Noting that this week marks exactly 5 years since he began his duties in the country, Mr. Klimow highlighted in detail the areas of American-Turkmen cooperation that received a new impetus for development during his mission in

Turkmenistan. These include successful cooperation on the methane emissions reduction program within the framework of COP 28, water resources management issues, advisory support for Turkmenistan’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO), assistance in developing the export potential of small private businesses, and cultural and humanitarian projects.

The ambassador also named STEM projects aimed at developing young people and teaching them digital and information technology skills as successful. Projects aimed at the participation of girls deserve special attention, he noted.

At the same time, talking about the implementation of joint Turkmen-American projects, M. Klimow emphasized that the valuable resources of Turkmenistan are, first of all, people.

He himself traveled a lot around the country, and in any corner of Turkmenistan he was invariably impressed by people - sincere, hospitable and friendly. He also noted the wonderful youth of the country: he met many times with students and schoolchildren, and they always delighted him with their enthusiasm and thirst for knowledge.

As M. Klimow noted, the new US Ambassador Elizabeth Rood will arrive in Turkmenistan on July 23.
