UNICEF, WHO Offices in Turkmenistan Hold Media Briefing

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Turkmenistan Country Office and the World Health Organization (WHO) Country Office in Turkmenistan held a joint online media briefing on Monday.

Media representatives took part in the event aimed at raising the awareness of journalists in the field of preparing materials on the prevention of infectious diseases, Turkmenistan’s Golden Age news outlet reports.

The briefing discussed the achievements of Turkmenistan in the implementation of the Preparedness and Response Plan of Turkmenistan to Acute Infectious Disease (CPRP).

This briefing is the third event, organized by the WHO and UNICEF offices for local journalists, dedicated to mobilizing the power of the media to fight the spread of infectious diseases and promote healthy lifestyles.

The briefing mainly focused on raising the awareness of journalists about effective ways to disseminate information on the prevention of infectious diseases among the general public and, above all, young people.

The participants of the discussion got acquainted with the best world practice and regional experience in this area, and also discussed the development of a special handbook.

The WHO Country Office representative shared new facts and data on the COVID-19 pandemic, re-emphasizing the need for respiratory etiquette, social distancing and hygiene.
