UNFPA handed over census equipment to the State Committee on Statistics of Turkmenistan

Today, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) handed over to the State Committee on Statistics of Turkmenistan the first batch of equipment for conducting a population and housing census in the country - 180 computers, reported on the website of the UNFPA.

In Turkmenistan, the population and housing census will be held from 17 to 27 December 2022 using digital technologies: tablets and computers.Tablets will be provided by a local manufacturer and will be equipped with appropriate software to enable the digitization of the paper-based census process.

The equipment, handed over to UNFPA today, includes 180 computers, powerful servers and storage that will permit data from tablets to be automatically transferred to the central database of the State Statistics Committee and ensure the accuracy and quality of population census data.

The equipment was purchased at the expense of funds, provided by the Government of Turkmenistan.
