Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that on 3 March, 2021 an inhabitant of the village of Taze usul, the agricultural association of Lebap in Sayat etrap, committed suicide by setting herself on fire.
Ykbal Egenberdieva had 18-month-old and five year old daughters.She and her husband did not have regular jobs.The family had rented a plot of land to grow wheat but this did not bring any income which would allow making ends meet.
In order to earn some money to provide for the family, Ykbal had sold vegetables on the market.Because of COVID-19 prevention measures, the markets have been closed since last year and consequently, the family had no income.
According to her family, in the last days the woman was depressed.
On 3 March Ykbal came into the storeroom where nobody could see her, poured petrol over herself and set herself on fire. The woman died on the way to a hospital.
The administration of the association did not assist with organizing the funeral. A sack of flour, rice and carrots are usually allocated in such cases.
