UN General Assembly Adopts Resolution at Turkmenistan's Initiative

The 63rd plenary meeting of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution titled "2025 - International Year of Peace and Trust," proposed by Turkmenistan, announced Rashid Meredov, Vice Premier and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, during an online government session on Saturday.

As reported by the Turkmenistan's official media, this resolution aims to contribute to the resolution of emerging conflicts through peaceful, diplomatic means, and to strengthen trust between states.

In connection with the adoption of the resolution by the UN General Assembly, the Vice Premier, Foreign Minister proposed organizing events in Turkmenistan and abroad, establishing an organizational commission at the government level, addressing relevant issues at its meetings, and implementing this work at the international level.

He also proposed to hold meetings with the participation of the Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia and the UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the UN member states supported Turkmenistan's initiative, and the fact that 86 countries co-authored the resolution is a great honor for the country. In this regard, the President, on behalf of the Turkmen people, expressed sincere gratitude to all countries for their support.

Having approved the presented proposals for the practical implementation of the aforementioned resolution, the Head of State gave the Vice Premier, Foreign Minister Meredov relevant instructions.

The government session also discussed matters concerning the country's state affairs.
