TV host Jimmy Kimmel and comedian John Mulaney refused to host the “Oscars”

The organizers of the “Oscars” ceremony scheduled for March 2, 2025, will have to look for a new host. Jimmy Kimmel, a famous TV host, and John Mulaney, a popular comedian, have turned down the offer to host the event. This was reported by daily.afisha.ru with reference to Variety.

Kimmel, who has hosted the “Oscars” four times, decided to bow out this summer. Mulaney, whose performance was one of the most memorable moments of the 2023 ceremony, had to decline the offer due to his busy schedule.

It's worth noting that Kimmel shares fourth place in the number of ceremonies he's hosted with Whoopi Goldberg and Jack Lemmon. The leaders on this list are Johnny Carson (5 ceremonies), Billy Crystal (9) and Bob Hope (19).

Bill Kramer, the Academy's executive director, thanked Kimmel for his contribution to the success of last year's ceremony and praised Mulaney's work in a June interview with Variety. He also emphasized that no matter who hosts the event, the organizers want to maintain the atmosphere of celebration, respect, humor, and love for cinema.

Kramer assured that the Academy has several worthy candidates for the role of host.
