Starting January 15, the state enterprise “Turkmenulaggozegchilik” (“Transinspection”) in Turkmenistan will begin issuing and processing permits for foreign carriers engaged in international road transportation, the website of the agency “Turkmenavtoulaglary” reports.
The innovation is designed to create more comfortable and efficient conditions for international transportation, the agency said in a statement.
Departments for issuing permits will operate in Ahalvelayat and Ashgabat. In the regions, this service will be provided by road control units in Balkan, Dashoguz, Lebapand Mary velayats.
It is separately noted that the issuance of permits for carriers from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan will also begin at border checkpoints.
Permits for carriers coming from Azerbaijan will be processed from the Turkmenbashy port checkpoint to other points, including Artyk, Hovdan, Sarahs, Garabogaz, AltynAsyr, Dashoguz, Kunyaurgench, Gazojak, Farap, Ymamnazar and Serhetabad. This should improve the entry and exit process for trucks traveling through Azerbaijan.
