On June 10, Dushanbe will host the Central Asian High-Level Forum “Water and Climate Change,” organized by the United Nations Development Program in cooperation with the European Union and the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The event will become an integral part of the 3rd International High-Level Conference within the framework of the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028,” reports uzdaily.uz.

Turkmenistan will take part in this forum along with other Central Asian countries Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Representatives of the Turkmen government will join key participants to discuss water-climate dialogue, implementation of risk reduction policies, national adaptation plans and strengthening regional cooperation in water resource management.

The forum will be held within the framework of the project “Climate Change and Sustainability in Central Asia”, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP. The goal of the project is to support stability and climate-resilient development in the region, especially in the cross-border Fergana Valley.

The results of the forum will be presented at the final session of the 3rd Conference of the Water Action Decade in Dushanbe and will make a significant contribution to the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including achieving Goal 6 on water and sanitation.
