Turkmenistan will build a new power plant to supply electricity to Türkiye

In the coming days, a groundbreaking ceremony for a new power plant with a capacity of 1574 MW will be held near the city of Turkmenbashi, Balkan velayat. This was stated by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov during negotiations with the head of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan, reports the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

The facility, which local specialists will build together with Turkish colleagues, will open up the opportunity to export electricity to Türkiye through third countries, the head of the Turkmen state said.

The development of an energy partnership will be beneficial for both countries, and for this there is the necessary legal framework, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted.

During the high-level negotiations, the heads of state also discussed the supply of Turkmen natural gas to Türkiye.
