The Turkmenistan boxing team took part in the opening ceremony of the World Youth Championship, which starts today in Yerevan. The solemn ceremony of welcoming the participants of the world championship took place at the Mika sports complex, Armenia Today reports.
The participants were welcomed by the head of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia Zhanna Andreasyan, the chairman of the Boxing Federation of Armenia Hovhannes Hovsepyan, the head of the European Boxing Confederation Ioannis Filipatos and the president of the International Boxing Association (IBA) Umar Kremlev. 600 boxers from 60 countries take part in the championship.
Athletes aged 15-16 years will compete in 13 weight categories.Competitions in the tournament start on November 24 and end on December 4.
The national team of Turkmenistan (U-16) under the leadership of Maksut Sheripov and Sapardurdy Bagiyev is represented by 6 boxers:
Sanjar Hamrayev (48 kg), Abdulla Hojaev (50 kg), Mekan Sabirov (52 kg), Seyitjan Babajanov (54 kg), Mergen Hojamammedov (60 kg) and Dayanch Durdynepesov (63 kg).
