Actual regional and international security issues were discussed at the first meeting of National Security Advisors - Secretaries of the Security Councils of India and Central Asia, which was held on December 6 in New Delhi, Kazakh media reported.
Turkmenistan was represented at the talks by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to India Shalar Geldynazarov.
The forum was organized on the basis of agreements to hold regular meetings of the secretaries of the Security Council to discuss regional security issues reached during the first India-Central Asia summit held on January 27, 2022.
The meeting participants touched upon issues of cooperation in such areas as countering terrorism, separatism and extremism, illegal arms and drug trafficking, transnational organized crime, and ensuring international information security.
The parties also discussed the situation in Afghanistan and its impact on security and stability in the region, as well as the prospects for the development of the International “North-South” Transport Corridor (INSTC).
Following the meeting, the participants of the event adopted a Joint Communiqué, which, among other things, noted the importance of the TAPI gas pipeline project promoted by Turkmenistan.
The next meeting of National Security Advisors - Secretaries of the Security Councils of India and Central Asia will be held in Kazakhstan in 2023.
