Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Mahri Bashimova took part in the 13th meeting of deputy foreign ministers of Central Asian states, organized in Bishkek by the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy with the support of Kyrgyzstan, reports the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
The participants discussed current challenges for the region, including the situation in Afghanistan. Particular attention was paid to the issues of combining efforts in the fight against terrorism and extremism, as well as the impact of climate change.
The parties highly appreciated the long-term fruitful cooperation of the Central Asian countries with the UN Regional Center and supported its further activities in key areas.
Within the framework of the meeting, a dialogue between youth representatives and the older generation of diplomats also was held, where issues of the future of the region were discussed.
In addition, the Turkmen delegation visited the OSCE Academy in Bishkek. Deputy Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Bashimova spoke about the implementation of youth policy in Turkmenistan, in particular in the fields of education and science.
The possibility of concluding a memorandum of understanding between the OSCE Academy and one of the universities of Turkmenistan was also discussed.
