The delegation of Turkmenistan, with the support of UNDP, took part in the interregional dialogue “Investing in Gender Equality and Inclusive Climate Action”, which was held in Istanbul on October 17-18.
The event was co-organized by the UNDP Regional Centre in Istanbul and the OECD Centre in Istanbul and focused on advancing gender-responsive climate action and facilitating cooperation across regions.
The forum brought together key stakeholders from governments, parliaments, civil society and the private sector from Central Asia, the South and West Caucasus, the Western Balkans and beyond.
Participants discussed the integration of gender equality into national and regional climate policies to advance the transition to a carbon-neutral economy while empowering women as leaders in climate change adaptation and mitigation.
The event served as an important platform for sharing best practices, shaping policy frameworks and strengthening commitments ahead of COP29, which will be held in Baku from November 11 to 22, and COP30, which will be held in Brazil in 2025.
By placing gender equality at the centre of climate action, participants aimed to ensure that future climate efforts are both inclusive and effective, according to a UNDP press release.
