Turkmenistan took part in the international conference on climate change in Tashkent

Delegates from Turkmenistan represented the country at the international conference on climate change and adaptation, which took place in Tashkent on May 6-7.

As reported by the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”, the delegation included representatives of the Hydrometeorological Service of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry, the Main Directorate of Civil Defense and Rescue Works of the Ministry of Defense of Turkmenistan, as well as experts from the UNDP/GCF project “Development of the National Process adaptation planning in Turkmenistan".

The forum was aimed at introducing the methodology for prioritizing adaptation efforts and providing support to countries in preparing National Adaptation Plans.

In accordance with the conference program, issues of adaptation to climate change were discussed in thematic sessions dedicated to water resources, agriculture, healthcare, the construction sector and disaster risk reduction.

The conference was organized by the UN Development Program together with the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the development of the Aral Sea region and ecology, the Agency of Hydrometeorological Service (Uzhydromet) of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan with the financial support of the Green Climate Fund ( GCF).
