Turkmenistan took part in the Inter-Parliamentary Forum of Central Asian States

The Turkmen delegation took part in the first Inter-Parliamentary Forum of Central Asian States, which was held on February 9-10 in the city of Turkestan of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Turkmen delegation was headed by Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Gurbanmurat Ashirov.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the parliamentarians of the region discussed issues of comprehensive strengthening of strategic cooperation between the countries of Central Asia, as well as expanding cultural and humanitarian cooperation based on a common historical and cultural heritage. The important role of parliaments in this process was emphasized.

As a result of the forum, the delegates adopted the Turkestan Declaration, which reflected the prospects for further development of inter-parliamentary relations aimed at expanding economic cooperation and forming a single cultural and historical space of the Central Asian region, the source notes.
