Delegates of the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan attended the fourth annual meeting of the East European Informal Working Group on Passenger Data (EE IWG), which was held from November 6 to 8 in Vienna, Austria.
The eighth seminar on passenger data was also held there during these dates.
According to the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Austria, the events were dedicated to the responsible use of passenger data to combat terrorism and organized crime, highlighting best practices, innovative technologies and international cooperation.
The delegation from Turkmenistan interacted with experts from different countries, sharing information on their own national practices and participating in discussions on common experiences and operational models.
The meetings emphasized the importance of API and PNR systems for border protection and improving security mechanisms in line with the resolutions adopted by the UN Security Council and the 2016 OSCE Ministerial Decision.
The events were held jointly by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT).
