Turkmenistan to Provide Liquefied Gas to Uzbekistan as Aid

Turkmenistan will transfer a batch of liquefied gas to Uzbekistan free of charge, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed the relevant Resolution on Friday.

In accordance with the Presidential Resolution, the Türkmengaz State Concern, the national gas producing company of Turkmenistan, was ordered to transfer the corresponding volume of liquefied gas to Uzbekistan free of charge as friendly and fraternal assistance, according to the country’s official media.

The document was signed in order to further strengthen the good neighborly relations of friendship and brotherhood between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, and provide friendly and fraternal support to Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan experiences a shortage of fuel resources this winter. As TASS reported with reference to experts, Uzbekistan for a long time acted as a seller of natural gas.

But in recent years, Uzbekistan's own production has been declining. As the country's energy needs are growing, the local gas transportation infrastructure is no longer able to meet them on its own.

This winter was abnormally cold in Central Asia, and as a result, Uzbekistan temporarily suspended gas exports to China and was even forced to limit the work of gas filling stations in some areas.
