Turkmenistan to Hold Presidential Elections on March 12

Turkmenistan will hold presidential elections on March 12 in accordance with the Resolution of the Mejlis chamber of the country’s bicameral parliament Milli Gengesh (National Council), the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH) reported on Saturday.

On Friday, the participants of the extraordinary meeting of the Halk Maslahaty (People's Council) chamber of the parliament approved the initiative of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to give way to young leaders in state administration.

In this regard, the Head of State instructed the Chairman of the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums to begin relevant work in accordance with the Constitution and laws of Turkmenistan.

The Turkmen Leader said he, as the Chairman of Halk Maslahaty, intends to further direct his vast life and political experience to this area.
