Farmers will sow rice on a total of 18,300 hectares of land in Turkmenistan’s Dashoguz and Lebap provinces, and harvest 82.4 thousand tons of the crops this year.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed the corresponding Decree “On the production of rice in Turkmenistan in 2022" during the online cabinet meeting on Friday, the country’s official media reports.
In accordance with the document, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, the governors of Dashoguz and Lebap provinces were instructed, using scientifically sound crop rotation, in accordance with the requirements of agricultural technology, to ensure the production of a rich harvest of rice in Saparmyrat Turkmenbashi district of Dashoguz, in Darganata, Danev, Charjev, Farap, Sayat, Halach, Hojambaz, Kerki, Dovletli and Koytendagh districts of Lebap.
The Turkmen President instructed Deputy Chairman of the Government in charge of the agro-industrial complex Esenmyrat Orazgeldiyev to cultivate land for rice in accordance to requirements, using appropriate technologies and an innovative approach.
The government meeting considered drafts of a number of documents, as well as other matters regarding the further development of the country.
