Turkmenistan to Give Sadaqah in Memory of Türkiye Earthquake Victims

Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, Chairman of Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, National Leader of the Turkmen people, during his visit to the Turkish Embassy in Ashgabat on Wednesday informed that sadaqah will be given in the near future at the Halk Hakydasy memorial complex in Ashgabat in memory of the victims of the earthquake in Türkiye.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, on the instructions of Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, visited the Turkish Embassy in Ashgabat and expressed sympathy with the representatives of the brotherly country, the official Turkmen media reports.

The Halk Maslahaty Chairman expressed his condolences to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and emphasized that citizens of Turkmenistan were also among those who faced this disaster. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed that Turkmen state is a reliable support for each citizen, and if problems arise, the necessary support will be provided through the relevant institutions.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed his deep sorrow and words of deep sympathy to the brotherly Turkish people suffering as a result of the natural disaster and left a message in the Book of Condolences as a symbol of the Turkmen-Turkish friendship and brotherhood.

On behalf of the Turkish people and government, as well as himself, the Turkish Ambassador to Turkmenistan Togan Oral expressed gratitude to the National Leader of the Turkmen people for visiting the Embassy and extending the Turkish people his words of support at this difficult time.

On Monday, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymuhamedov and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also sent messages of condolences to President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan over the earthquakes that caused numerous deaths and widespread destruction.

Many countries offered to send help, whether medical supplies, search teams or money.

The Turkmen plane carrying aid team and supplies for the earthquake victims flew off from Ashgabat to Türkiye on Tuesday morning.

The U.S. Geological Survey measured Monday’s earthquake at 7.8 magnitude. During the second half of the day, a second massive earthquake of 7.6 magnitude has hit the southeast of Türkiye. According to the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority of Türkiye, the earthquakes were followed by 1,117 aftershocks.
