The participants of the extraordinary meeting of the Halk Maslahaty (People's Council) on Friday approved the initiative of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to give way to young leaders in state administration.
In this regard, Head of State instructed the Chairman of the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums to begin relevant work in accordance with the Constitution and laws of Turkmenistan, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH) reports.
The meeting of the Halk Maslahaty chamber of the country’s bicameral parliament Milli Gengesh (National Council) was attended by members of the chamber, government members, deputies, heads of ministries and departments, political parties and public organizations, governors and mayors.
During the meeting, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who was first elected as Turkmen President on February 11, 2007, said, “Now for 15 years I have been working in the highest and very responsible position of the President of Turkmenistan”.
Emphasized that two years ago he reached the age of a prophet, Berdimuhamedov announced his decision to give way to young leaders and focus on his post of the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty.
Gurbangeldi Ayliev, an honorary elder of the people, a resident of Ahal velayat, on behalf of all elders expressed support for the important initiative of the Turkmen Leader to give way to the youth and entrust them with the state affairs at the new stage of development.
“We firmly believe that, attracting young leaders to the state activity, you will be with them, provide political support, advice and guide the country to new heights of progress," Ayliyev stated.
The program for the socio-economic development of the country for 2022 and the national program for the socio-economic development of the state for 2022-2052 were also adopted during the meeting.
