Turkmenistan takes part in the 220th session of the UNESCO Executive Board

Within the framework of the 220th session of the UNESCO Executive Board, the traditional meeting of National Commissions for UNESCO is taking place from October 14 to 15.

Turkmenistan is represented at the meeting by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to UNESCO Maksat Charyev and Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO Chinar Rustamova.

The agenda of the meeting includes consideration of current issues, including consideration of the results of the Future Summit, as well as improvement of the practice of interaction between cities included in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.

Within the framework of the event, the Turkmen side held meetings with the Secretary of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO Fumika Ohinata and the head of the Creative Cities

Network Ms. Denise Bax, where current issues of interaction were discussed, as well as plans for the coming period.

The regular meeting demonstrated the strong desire of the National Commissions for UNESCO to contribute to the ongoing process of implementing UNESCO programs and projects, to provide a platform for exchanging views on the role of National Commissions in implementing the strategic transformation of the Organization.

The work of the 220th session of the UNESCO Executive Board started on October 9 and will continue until October 23, according to a press release from the National Commissions of Turkmenistan for UNESCO.
