Turkmenistan, paying great attention to strategic partnership with the UN and its specialized agencies, actively develops cooperation with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Such unique historical and cultural monuments of Turkmenistan as Ancient Merv, Kunyaurgench and Old Nisa have been already included to the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Turkmen national art of singing and dancing kushtdepdy was included to the Representative List of Non-material cultural heritage in December 2017. At present time, relative measures for inclusion of Turkmen carpet art and ahalteke horse breeding to this prestigious list and on inclusion of Koytendag ecosystem and State Reserve Badhyz to the UNESCO World Heirtage List.
In November of the last year, Turkmenistan was elected to the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for Physical Education and Sport in 2017 2021.According to the final Declaration of International Sport Congress in April of the last year in Avaza National tourist zone, Turkmenistan plans to hold the UNESCO VII International Conference of Ministers and Senior Officials Responsible for Physical Education and Sport (MINEPS VII) in 2021.
