Turkmenistan Supplies 10 bcm of Natural Gas to Russia

Turkmenistan supplied about 10 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas to Russia in 2021, which is twice the level of Turkmen gas supplies in 2020, the Ashgabat-based Orient news outlet reported citing the Russian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Alexander Blokhin as saying during a press briefing on Friday.

There is also a possibility of an increase in purchases of Turkmen natural gas next year, but that is a matter for Gazprom and its future plans, according to the Russian Ambassador.

Focusing on the prospects for the supply of Turkmen gas to Europe through the Caspian Sea, Blokhin said this is a rather difficult and resource-intensive task.

The Ambassador added that Ashgabat has significant opportunities to diversify the gas supply without the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline.

In November, the average spot price of natural gas at the Dutch TTF hub the main gas hub in Europe was $945 per tcm, while the average price in December stands at $1,205 per tcm.
