Turkmenistan’s Vnesheconombank further restricts the amounts which can be withdrawn overseas

The official website of Turkmenistan’s Vnesheconombank (Foreign Trade Bank) has published an announcement according to which, during an overseas stay, a maximum of $50 dollars a day can be withdrawn from a person’s own account or cash free payments of no more than $200 a day can be made.

“The restrictions have been imposed with a view to preventing inappropriate use of foreign currency funds via international bank cards”, the announcement says.

“As before, an amount not exceeding 1000 manats or a monthly salary can be credited per month. In order to make a money transfer to their study-abroad students, parents are obliged to prove their immediate relationship, provide a certificate from the educational establishment and an income statement”.

Let us recall that starting from early October, according to sources at “Chronicles of Turkmenistan”, the amounts to be withdrawn and cash-free payments overseas were reduced to $100 and $500 respectively.

However, according to our sources, these restrictions have not been observed. If private vendors managed to purchase merchandise for the amount of $500 the next days they could not make any payments.
