Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Russian Federation Batyr Niyazliyev and Oleg Knyazev, the Vice Governor and Chairman of the Government of Astrakhan region, in a meeting in Moscow signed agreements on cooperation between Astrakhan Region and Turkmenistan’s Balkan province, and an agreement on twinning between the cities of Astrakhan and Turkmenbashi.
The talks were also attended by the Head of Astrakhan city administration Oleg Polumordvinov, the Minister of Foreign Relations of Astrakhan region Vladimir Golovkov, the Rector of the Astrakhan State University Konstantin Markelov, the Astrakhan region's Ministry of Foreign Relations said on Thursday.
"Turkmenistan is a long-standing friend and reliable partner of the Astrakhan region. We successfully develop contacts in trade, transport, logistics, industry, education and many others. Establishing ties at the inter-regional level will be a new stage in our cooperation," Oleg Knyazev said.
The Vice-Governor said the range of relations between the Astrakhan region and the Balkan province may be very broad, adding that first of all, it is cooperation in the development of maritime transport links, shipbuilding and tourism.
For his part, the Turkmen Ambassador Batyr Niyazliyev stated the high level of strategic partnership between the Russia and Turkmenistan.
