Turkmenistan's Top Diplomat Discusses Cooperation With EU

Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov held meetings with high-ranking representatives of the European Union (EU) in Brussels, Belgium, on Tuesday, discussing prospects for further cooperation.

According to Turkmenistan's foreign ministry, Rashid Meredov met with the Executive Vice President of the European Commission for the Economy, EU Commissioner for Trade Valdis Dombrovskis, Vice President of the European Commission Margaritis Schinas, EU Commissioner for International Partnerships Jutta Urpilainen, and the Chair of the European Parliament's Delegation for Central Asia and Mongolia Tomáš Zdechovský.

The meetings addressed cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union in areas such as the economy, trade, and humanitarian interaction. They also discussed current projects being implemented in Turkmenistan with EU support.

On the same day, Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister also met with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, in Brussels, Belgium.

From March 17th to 19th, 2024, the Turkmen delegation, led by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, conducted a working visit to Belgium.
