Turkmenistan’s Minister of the Interior Isgender Mulikov dismissed

According to the news program “Watan” by the Turkmen state television, in the course of the Security Council session to sum up the results of law enforcement agencies performance for the past 9 months President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov dismissed Minister of the Interior Isgender Mulikov.

Former Minister of the Interior of Turkmenistan Isgender Mulikov has been deprived of all government awards and reduced in rank from Lieutenant General to Major pursuant to the decree issued by President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov.

The state information agency TDH reports that at the Security Council session Turkmenistan’s Prosecutor General Batyr Atdayv briefed on the results of the inspections carried out in the Ministry of the Interior, which identified shortcomings and cases of corruption.

Mulikov occupied the post of the Interior Minister for 10 years starting from May 2009.

Throughout his tenure he received a total of 12 reprimands from the head of state with three last ones issued in 2018 and 2019 with the “final warning”.

The agency will be headed by Mammetkhan Chakyev, who had previously occupied the position of Deputy Prime Minister overseeing transportation, communications and manufacturing.
