On 5 July Deputy Prime Minister overseeing energy, construction and public utilities Charymyrat Purchekov gave a progress report for the first six months of the year to President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov.
The head of the state charged Purchekov with the task of holding a meeting with the executives of the sector, analyzing the situation in recently completed construction projects and drafting the 2020 construction program.
Berdymukhammedov reminded that the large-scale construction of new cities and residential districts was launched in Turkmenistan and called for ensuring the provision of construction materials in large volumes, including cement, metal structures and decoration materials.
Let us recall that the construction project of the new residential district Ashgabat-city is being implemented in Akhal velayat, which will accommodate over 200 new buildings.
The launch of the construction project timed to coincide with the deficit of locally produced cement in Ashgabat markets.
The President eventually reprimanded Minister of Construction and Architecture Soyenchnazar Selimov “for poor control over complying with construction works standards and their quality”.
