As part of his two-day official visit to Dushanbe, National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held talks on Thursday with President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, as reported by the official media of Turkmenistan.
The welcome ceremony of Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took place at the Palace of the Nation in Tajikistan. Berdimuhamedov was welcomed here by President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan.
Following the official welcome ceremony, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan and President of Tajikistan discussed the main directions of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, both sides expressed confidence that the current historic meeting would give a new impetus to the development of interstate dialogue, based on centuries-old experience of friendship, good neighborliness, and spiritual and cultural values of the two nations.According to the official press of the President of Tajikistan, during the visit of the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Dushanbe, negotiations between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan were held at the highest level.
The importance of continuing political dialogue at all levels was emphasized during the negotiations, as well as the importance of more active development of trade and economic relations for the benefit of both sides.
Additionally, during the discussion, the parties exchanged views on the development and expansion of relations in such promising sectors as oil and gas, chemical and metallurgical industries, cooperation in industry, agriculture, transportation, and logistics.
As part of the visit, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will also participate in a joint musical concert of artists from both countries, which will be held at the Kohi Borbad State Complex under the theme "Evening of Friendship".
