Turkmenistan’s Garabogazkarbamid Exports Around 230 Thousand Tons of Urea Fertilizer

Garabogazkarbamid plant, the large urea and ammonia plant in the city of Garabogaz in Turkmenistan’s western province of Balkan, exported around 230 thousand tons of urea fertilizer, or nearly 82% of total production, in the first three months of this year.

The plant’s urea output in January-March 2022 neared 281.1 thousand tons, the Turkmen official media reported on Thursday.

Garabogazkarbamid plant is designed to annually produce 1.155 million tons of urea and 660 thousand tons of synthetic ammonia. Natural gas is the main raw material of the plant.

Commissioned in September 2018, the plant is equipped with leading Danish, Italian, Dutch and American technologies.

Last year, the plant produced more than 989.1 thousand tons of urea fertilizer and 570.4 thousand tons of liquid ammonia.
