Turkmenistan's Foreign Ministry holds talks with Abdul Rashid Dustum

The meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov with the leader of the party of the National Islamic Movement of Afghanistan Marshal Abdul Rashid Dostum, who arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit, took place today.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, during the constructive conversation there was an exchange of views on the agenda of effective Turkmen-Afghan cooperation.The Parties expressed their commitment to joint efforts in the immediate implementation of energy, communications, transport and other projects.

In this context, the mutual interest in timely and effective implementation of the promising TAPI gas pipeline project, TAP power lines, as well as new railway routes from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan is expressed in this context.

The importance of Turkmenistan's implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects aimed at further socio-economic development of Afghanistan and the region as a whole was highlighted during the conversation.

The Turkmen side reaffirmed its readiness to continue active dialogue in order to promote peaceful inter-Afghan talks and to provide its political space for its next rounds.

During the talks, the sides agreed on the need to further strengthen and improve mechanisms for achieving peace, sustainable development, stability and security in the region as a whole.
