Turkmen cotton growers fulfilled their contractual obligations by harvesting 1.25 million tons of raw cotton.
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on Thursday received reports from the governors of the country’s velayats on the fulfillment by the country's farmers of their contractual obligations for the production of raw cotton, the country’s official media reports.
The farmers harvested over 280 thousand tons of wheat in Ahal velayat, 365 thousand tons in Mary velayat, 275 thousand tons in Dashoguz velayat, 10 thousand tons in Balkan velayat and 320 thousand tons in Lebap velayat.
Medium staple cotton varieties of Yoloten-7, Yoloten-39, Dashoguz-120, Dashoguz-114, Jeyhun, 149 F, Gubadag-3, S-2606, and fine-staple cotton variety of Yoloten-14 were planted on 620 thousand hectares of land in the spring of this year in the country. Private agricultural producers were allocated land plots from a special fund for agricultural purposes.
More than 7,600 tractors, over 1,700 seeders and more than 5,500 cotton cultivators were involved in sowing cotton.
The Turkmen Leader during the online government meeting focused on the country’ agriculture sector on Thursday signed Decrees on presenting state awards to agricultural workers who have achieved high performance, and instructed the relevant officials to hold an award ceremony at the Mekan Palace on Saturday.
