Russian news outlets, with reference to Chairman of Turkmenistan’s Central Election and Referendum Commission Gulmurad Muradov, reported that the outcome of the Presidential election was scheduled to be announced on 14 March.
However, on 14 March, according to the Turkmen state information agency TDH, a session of Central Election Commission was held to discuss the results of the “public and political campaign” which was successfully completed. However, the election results have not been announced. TDH reports that the outcome of the election will be made public “shortly”.
The reason behind delayed announcement of the 12 March election has not been specified.
Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” previously reported that rural residents of Lebap velayat were informed that voting should take place until 2 p.m., despite the fact that the polling stations were officially open until 7 p.m.
The officials’ requirements were explained by the fact that they needed to complete the vote count and hand over the data to the city. The post Turkmenistan’s Central Election Commission delays the announcement of the Presidential election result first appeared on Chronicles of Turkmenistan.
