The conscripts doing their military service in Mary velayat have had their diet rations cut.
Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that primarily wheat porridge is served to soldiers.Their diet previously comprised of mashed potatoes, pilaf and fish but in the past few months these dishes have not been available on the menu.
The number of eggs has also been reduced with one egg per day being served instead of two.
“If conscripts had previously refused to eat cabbage soup, now they cannot wait for it to be served. In order to solve the problem in one of the military units, an instruction was issued to open a privatelyowned cafeteria so that soldiers can buy themselves some food”, — our correspondents said.
It must be highlighted that the monthly allowance of the rank and file amounts to 68 manats (~$20 using the official rate or about $10 at the “black market” rate).
Instead of cash soldiers get personal hygiene items or subscriptions to the newspaper “Esger” (“Warrior”) or the magazine “Goshun” (“The army”).Conscripts can purchase food or other necessities only by using money sent by their parents.
“Chronicles of Turkmenistan” has previously reported that a similar situation is being observed in other military units of the country.
It should be added that instead of traditional marching songs, the songs authored by President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammmedov are performed during marching.
