Turkmenistan’s Anev City Declared 2024 Turkic World Cultural Capital

The 39th Meeting of the Permanent Council of Ministers of Culture of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), held in Bursa on Friday, declared Turkmenistan's Anev city the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World for 2024, according to the Final Declaration of the meeting posted on the TURKSOY website on Saturday.

The Permanent Council, in line with the recommendations of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan, has also decided to declare 2024 as the Year of Magtymguly Pyragy, the great poet and thinker of the Turkic World, on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of his birth.

The meeting also decided to design a program for the certification of the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Turkic World under the leadership of TURKSOY in order to increase awareness of the cultural heritage of the Turkic World and to contribute to the tourism potential of these values owned by the member countries, as well as to present this program to the countries and to carry out joint activities for its promotion.

The Final Declaration was signed by government officials of the TURKSOY member countries, including the Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan Atageldi Shamyradov.
