President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed the Declaration on Deepening Strategic Partnership between the countries following the talks in Moscow on Friday.
The document published by the official Turkmen media sets out the priorities for future cooperation between Turkmenistan and Russia in the political, trade and investment, cultural and humanitarian, and security fields.
In addition to the declaration, 14 other documents on Turkmenistan-Russia cooperation were also signed during President Berdimuhamedov's official visit to Russia.
Commenting on the results of the summit in a press briefing, President Vladimir Putin said the meeting with President Berdimuhamedov took place in a friendly atmosphere, emphasizing "truly partnership and mutually beneficial nature of interstate cooperation."
During the meeting, Putin presented the Order of Friendship to his Turkmen counterpart Berdimuhamedov "for his great contribution to strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries."
This visit to Russia is President Berdimuhamedov’s first official trip abroad since he took office on March 15.
