Turkmenistan Ready to Host Major International Sports Events

Turkmenistan is not only ready to actively participate in international sports events but is also prepared to host them at a high level, stated the country’s ambassador to Belgium, Sapar Palvanov, during a meeting with Central Asian diplomats and Captain Roberto Recchia, Secretary General of the International Military Sports Council (CISM), in Brussels.

According to the Turkmen Embassy in Belgium, the meeting on Sunday focused on the development of military sports and the participation of Central Asian countries in competitions organized under the CISM banner.

Ambassador Palvanov reaffirmed Turkmenistan's strong commitment to sports, highlighting it as a key element of the nation’s domestic and foreign policy.

Turkmen athletes have already achieved notable success in CISM-organized competitions, and the country plans to increase its presence in future events.

Founded in 1948, the International Military Sports Council (CISM) is one of the largest sports organizations globally, surpassed only by the International Olympic Committee and the International University Sports Federation. CISM fosters peace and friendship among military organizations worldwide through sports competitions.
