Turkmenistan Participates in 'UN World Tourism Day' Forum in Georgia

On September 27, 2024, the international forum "UN World Tourism Day" opened in Georgia, as reported by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia.

The event includes participants from over 50 countries, including ministers, tourism experts, and representatives of international organizations. Turkmenistan is represented by a delegation led by the head of the tourism department of the Ministry of Culture.

The central theme of the forum is the connection between tourism and peace — "Tourism and Peace." Welcome speeches were delivered by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and UN World Tourism Organization Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili, both highlighting the essential role of tourism in fostering mutual understanding between nations.

The event features panel discussions focusing on global tourism trends and the challenges faced by the industry. Special attention is given to the role of tourism in strengthening international relations and promoting peace and intercultural dialogue.

World Tourism Day was established in 1979, and since then, the forum has become a key platform for discussing issues related to the sustainable development of the industry and its impact on global processes.
