Turkmenistan, Pakistan Discuss Implementation of Energy and Transport Projects

Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met with Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari in Islamabad on Wednesday. The two sides focused on finalizing documents for the implementation of joint energy and transport projects, according to official Turkmen media.

During the meeting, a broad range of bilateral cooperation topics were discussed, including the execution of previously reached agreements and future plans. Special emphasis was placed on the significant economic partnership between the two countries, with potential for increasing trade and strengthening mutually beneficial ties.

The energy and transport sectors were central to the discussions. In particular, the parties reviewed progress on the TAPI gas pipeline (TurkmenistanAfghanistanPakistanIndia) and the TAP power transmission line (TurkmenistanAfghanistanPakistan), both of which play a critical role in regional integration and energy security.

President Zardari expressed his gratitude to Turkmenistan’s leadership for their personal contribution to fostering the friendly and brotherly relations between the two countries, highlighting the importance of further deepening cooperation in strategic sectors.
