During the next meeting of the OSCE Security Committee, the delegation of Turkmenistan outlined the country’s priorities in the field of security, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
It was noted that Turkmenistan is strictly guided by the principles of neutrality, non-intervention, adherence to peaceful, political means of resolving conflicts and contradictions.
Turkmenistan considers further joint efforts of states in the field of disarmament, non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, the fight against terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking to be priority areas in the international community’s activities, the report said.
The meeting participants were also informed about the cooperation of Turkmenistan with the the Counter-Terrorism Implementation Task Force (CTITF), the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), the EU, the OSCE and its field mission in Ashgabat.
On Dec. 12, 1995, the UN General Assembly adopted the resolution “Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan”.
