Turkmenistan Opens Electrical Equipment Repair Center in Central Asia

The opening ceremony of the Electrical Equipment Repair and Maintenance Center was held on Wednesday in the Buzmeyin district of Turkmenistan’s capital Ashgabat.

The center is the only facility in Central Asia designed to repair and service General Electric gas turbines on the basis of advanced technologies, the Turkmen official media reports.

Addressing the ceremony participants and industry workers, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov stated the importance of the opening of this center. He added that a number of new modern power plants have been built in recent years in all provinces of the country.

The center is equipped with 55 units of specialized machinery. The complex includes specialized workshops, a laboratory, an administrative building, a conference hall, an archive, a warehouse, technical, auxiliary and other necessary facilities. It also has advanced specialized equipment, including those designed for testing, checking and cleaning gas turbine parts in different ways.

During the ceremony, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Çalık Holding Ahmet Çalık said he is proud of the long-standing ties with Turkmenistan, participation in major projects and expressed great interest in continuing the long-term mutually beneficial cooperation.

Then, the Deputy Head of General Electric Gas Power Europe presented the Certificate of permission for use of General Electric technologies to the new center.

The new center was also certified by the UK-based London Energy Club, the Fraunhofer Institute for Energy Economics and Technology of Energy Systems, the TÜV and the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany.

The construction of the three-hectare facility was carried out by Çalık Enerji company in accordance with the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan, signed in 2019.
